(*1967 in Heilbronn, Germany) studied from 1994 –2000 at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste( Academy of Fine Arts) in Karlsruhe with Helmut Dorner and Luc Tuymans. In his painting Wolf uses the pictorial language of reduced, geometric abstraction. He paints on simple plywood panels which count as a component of the painting and underline the geometric shapes. Squares, lines and circles reappear in Wolf’s painting abraded, unfinished and frayed. Pencil lines indicating an outline of the creative drawing remain and provide insight into the productive “mistakes” of his work. The cracks on some of the edges of the plywood suggest it having had another function before its use in a work of art.
