Art Basel 2025

JUNE 19 – JUNE 22, 2025
Messeplatz, Basel
Art is a benchmark for its respective time and a reaction to what it has to measure in social, political, or economic terms. In the mid-20th century, art became increasingly self-referential. These postmodern art movements, summarized as Avant-garde, shaped, if not defined, the early gallery program. While these genres were often based on strict concepts, today’s art is less restrained and more versatile, and so is von Bartha’s roster of artists today. Contemporary art is both a reaction and an impetus. von Bartha explores these interplays – and their own transformation – with a curated booth entitled “Re-Actions!” highlighting historical references in an atypical manner, making unforeseen assertions, and offering alternative contexts.
