Terry Haggerty
Headroom

Nov 5, 2026 – Jan 8, 2027
Basel
Terry Haggerty presents a series of new works on shaped canvases. Through their scale, painted folds, and striped patterns, the works resemble draped cloth or fabric concealing objects beneath their surface. On closer inspection, however, it becomes clear that these apparent folds are in fact carefully constructed elements of Haggerty’s classically abstract, highly precise painting.
The stripe has long anchored Haggerty's practice, an economical vocabulary explored across successive bodies of work. In these new shaped paintings, made for his exhibition Headroom, it tightens further: no more than six bands, pared back so that shape and color register with direct, physical force.
WE WARMLY INVITE YOU TO THE OPENING ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2026, FROM 6 TO 8PM.
