Marina Adams
To a World Full of Others

Basel

Marina Adams (b. 1960) opens her first solo exhibition in Switzerland, To a World Full of Others, with thirteen new paintings and several drawings. The large-scale, radiant canvases, with titles such as SOMEWHERE, over the rainbowCedar of LebanonBlue Diva3 Wishes for Ornette, are inspired by a manifold of themes from poems, memories, and places, to geopolitical events.

The US-American artist is known for her dynamic, abstract works which explore colour, form and movement, featuring vibrantly coloured interlocking shapes and lines. Often large in scale, Adams’ practice draws inspiration from a range of subjects including architecture, ceramic and textiles, from the richly patterned rugs of Morocco to the Moorish tiles found in the Alhambra Palace in Spain.

Public Opening: Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 6–9 pm, Basel
